Lumber Yard / Mill Production Worker (bilingual preferred)
J&W Lumber seeks a well qualified Lumber Yard Worker or Lumber Mill Production Worker that will handle lumber and building materials. The candidate will stock lumber, build orders, or help in production, and keep the yard organized. The candidate will be able to follow manager’s directions and complete tasks as requested. The position is physically demanding and includes heavy lifting and working outdoors through the summer and winter.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Stock lumber (unload supply trucks and fill lumber shelves)
- Build orders (pull material from shelves and prepare it for delivery)
- Lumber mill production (processing material and moving it down the production line).
- Keep yard neat and organized
- Other similar tasks as required
EXPERIENCE
- Previous employment showing good work ethic and reliability
- Lumberyard experience a plus but not required
- Lumber Mill production experience a plus but not required
- Forklift experience a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to lift 90 lbs
- Bilingual preferred (English / Spanish)

Store Manager / Manager-Trainee
J&W Lumber seeks a well qualified manager to join our team as a Store Manager. J&W Lumber will also consider a manager-trainee that can learn the responsibilities outlined below.
The candidate will oversee the operations of one of our retail lumber yards and store and will have a proven record in maximizing sales and profitability. The candidate will provide superior customer service and will teach their team how to provide that highest level of service.
The candidate will train their team and bring their team members to the next level. The candidate should be a “hands on” manager who can successfully implement company strategies and goals, understand corporate directions, and communicate those directions to their team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a good working relationship with customers and fellow employees.
Follow and implement company policies effectively.
Oversee writing of customer orders, delivery and mill orders and collection of payment.
Advise customers on lumber and hardware uses (i.e., decking, patio covers, etc.)
Oversee ordering and stocking of hardware and office supplies.
Coordinate deliveries.
Conduct monthly safety meetings.
Maintain Pricing Integrity
QUALIFICATIONS
Positive attitude!
Strong leadership skills.
Experience in managing payroll, inventory, loss prevention, hiring, training and employee development.
Strong record in increasing sales, making/exceeding sales goals.
Superior customer service skills.
Flexible and adaptable.
Retail Store Manager experience or Assistant Store Manager experience preferred.
Lumber/ Building Materials experience a plus but not required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
This position is responsible for assisting customers in the purchase of lumber and associated products and assisting the manager in the daily operation of the office.
DUTIES:
- Provide Outstanding Customer Service!
- Write customer orders, mill orders and delivery orders and collect payment.
- Advise customers on lumber and hardware use to include bidding of projects (i.e., decks, patio covers and fences).
- Assist manager in maintaining a clean, organized, properly stocked store.
- Open and close store as directed by manager.
- Assist manager in updating hardware and lumber prices.
- Assist in or complete end of day paperwork (i.e., invoices, charge tickets, pick tickets, etc.)
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Always represents J&W Lumber with a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Able to make change.
- Basic Sales Skills
SUPERVISORY DIRECTION NEEDED:
This position normally requires periodic daily supervision.
