TITLE:
ASSISTANT MANAGER
POSITION:
WAGE NONEXEMPT
SUMMARY:
This position assists the Store Manager in all aspects of the store operation and will manage the store in the Managers absence. This position requires policy interpretation and implementation, and complete knowledge of store operations.
DUTIES:
- Provide Outstanding Customer Service!
- Oversee writing of customer orders, delivery and mill orders and collection of Payment.
- Advise customers on lumber and hardware uses (i.e., decking, patio covers, etc.)
- Oversee ordering and stocking of hardware and office supplies.
- Order "special" orders for deliveries.
- Update hardware and lumber prices.
- Coordinate deliveries.
- Assure prompt loading and unloading of CJ deliveries and handling of paperwork.
- Conduct hardware inventory on quarterly basis.
- Price and extend lumber inventory.
- Maintain a good working relationship with customers, fellow employees and Upper management.
- Maintain end of day paperwork including invoices, charge tickets, projected sales, monthly projections and make daily deposits.
- Oversee organization and cleanliness of office.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings.
- Maintain Signing Standards
- Maintain Pricing Integrity
- Write warning notices for employee tardiness, and /or misconduct.
- Assist manager in training store employees in all areas.
- Assist manager in conducting performance appraisals.
- Assist manager in yard inspection.
- Organize daily delivery receipts with weekly reconciliation report.
- Always Represent J&W Lumber with a professional Appearance and Demeanor.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Working knowledge of all aspects of yard and office operations.
- Supervision experience beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills.
SUPERVISION DIRECTION NEEDED:
This position requires limited supervision.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
POSITION:
WAGE NONEXEMPT
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting customers in the purchase of lumber and associated products and assisting the manager in the daily operation of the office.
DUTIES:
- Provide Outstanding Customer Service!
- Write customer orders, mill orders and delivery orders and collect payment.
- Advise customers on lumber and hardware use to include bidding of projects (i.e., decks, patio covers and fences).
- Assist manager in maintaining a clean, organized, properly stocked store.
- Open and close store as directed by manager.
- Assist manager in updating hardware and lumber prices.
- Assist in or complete end of day paperwork (i.e., invoices, charge tickets, pick tickets, etc.)
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Always represents J&W Lumber with a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Able to make change.
- Basic Sales Skills
SUPERVISORY DIRECTION NEEDED:
This position normally requires periodic daily supervision.
TITLE:
YARD WORKER
POSITION:
WAGE NONEXEMPT
SUMMARY:
This position requires sorting and racking lumber according to grade markings and size.
DUTIES:
- Provide Outstanding Customer Service
- Approach ALL Customers in the Yard within 30 seconds
- Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and length using upgrading techniques.
- Remove defective and/or damaged lumber from racks for cutback.
- Assist customer with loading of lumber.
- Count and write up orders after loading customer
- Maintain good working relationship with customers, fellow employees and upper management.
- Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner focusing on his area.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of Redwood lumber grades and uses.
- Knowledge of methods of maintaining the racks/stacks.
- Able to lift up to 90lbs.
SUPERVISORY DIRECTION NEEDED:
This position requires constant supervision.

SUMMARY:
This position directs the activities of employees concerned with the yard. This position is responsible for utilizing personnel and equipment in order to achieve quality results and service.
DUTIES:
- Provide Outstanding Customer Service!
- Maintain Yard Inventory levels by using required reports and logs.
- Assure racks are fully stocked with quality lumber.
- Assign yard employees to areas of responsibility and follow up on.
- Oversee deliveries and maintenance of all yard equipment.
- Oversee cutback and assure maximum use of lumber.
- Inform manager of lumber requirements.
- Assure a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintain a good working relationship with customers, employees, and upper management.
- Assure employees are fully trained in duties.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Responsible for all yard services including deliveries and milling.
- Complete weekly reconciliation report from Assistant Manager.
- Always represents J&W Lumber with a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Working knowledge of all aspects of the yard.
- Knowledge of Redwood uses and grades.
- Supervisory experience beneficial.

This position should not require close daily supervision.
